클라우드 파일 스토리지 및 동기화 서비스 업체 드롭박스(Dropbox)가 2분기 호실적에도 불구하고 주가 하락을 면치 못했다.
드롭박스는 월스트리트의 예상 매출을 뛰어넘기며 2분기 실적에 강세를 보였으나, 데니스 우드사이드(Dennis Woodside) COO(최고운영책임자)의 사임 발표 이후 주가가 10% 가까이 급락했다.
지난 3월 드롭박스 기업공개(IPO)에 중요한 역할을 맡았던 데니스 우드사이드는 9월 초까지 COO 역할을 유지하며, 2018년 말까지 자문 위원으로 계속 머물 것으로 전했다. 드롭박스는 현재 두 명의 부사장을 겸임할 예정이지만, 새로운 COO는 아직 찾지 않을 것이라고 설명했다.
드롭박스 드류 휴스턴(Drew Houston) CEO는 “데니스 우드사이드는 연간 $1 billion(약 1조 원) 이상의 매출을 달성해주었으며, 전 세계에 12개의 지사를 보유하고 있는 공정 거래 기업으로 탈바꿈시켜 주었다”며 감사를 표현했다.
3월 기업공개 이후 드롭박스의 주가는 21% 상승했었지만, 사임 발표 직후 10% 가까이 하락하며 아쉬운 성적을 보였다.
Dropbox was down nearly 10 percent by the close on Friday, following its announcement on Thursday that chief operating officer, Dennis Woodside, will be stepping down in September.
The cloud services company reported strong second-quarter earnings after the bell on Thursday, beating Wall Street expectations on revenue and earnings per share. But investors seem to be reacting to the loss of a high-profile Silicon Valley executive. Woodside previously served as an executive at Google and Motorola.
Woodside has been with Dropbox since 2014, and helped oversee its IPO earlier this year.
“We’re grateful for everything Dennis has done for us,” CEO Drew Houston said in a statement. “He’s helped transform Dropbox into a publicly-traded company with over $1 billion in annual revenue and 12 offices around the world.”
Prior to the announcement, Dropbox’s share price had gained nearly 21 percent since going public in March. By Friday’s close, those gains were pared down to 9 percent for the year.
