중국에서 가장 큰 기술 회사 중 하나인 화웨이(Huawei)는 향후 3년간 동남아시아 지역의 기업에 1억 달러를 투자할 예정이다.
기술분야 대기업인 화웨이는 스파크 이니셔티브(Spark initiative)를 통해 최소 1,000개의 스타트업 육성, 그중 100개 기업의 스케일 업을 진행하는 것을 목표로 한다. 스파크 이니셔티브는 현재 싱가포르, 말레이시아, 홍콩, 태국에서 활동 중에 있으며 이후 인도네시아, 스리랑카, 베트남, 필리핀으로 확대될 예정이다.
화웨이는 새로운 지역 확장 외에도 세 가지 추가 계획을 공개했다. 첫째 ”Spark 개발자 프로그램”은 아시아 태평양 지역에서 화웨이 클라우드 기반의 개발자 생태계를 추구하고, 둘째 “Spark Pitstop 프로그램”은 스타트업 제품 개발의 가속화를 위해 화웨이 클라우드를 구현하고 지원하도록 설계 되었으며, 마지막 스파크 혁신프로그램(SIP)은 스파크 스타트업 생태계를 통한 기업들의 혁신을 도모하는 것을 목표로 한다고 말했다.

The tech giant aims to nurture at least 1,000 startups and 100 scale-ups over the coming years via its Spark initiative, with plans to add four more startup hubs across the region.
