혼다(Honda)는 세계 최고 수준의 ‘자율 주행 3단계’ 차량을 일본에서 최초로 100대를 출시하여 테슬라를 제치고 현재 세계에서 가장 진보된 모델을 내놓은 차량 회사가 되었다.
“The Legend”라는 이름의 새 차는 자동 제동, 어댑티브 크루즈 컨트롤, 차선 유지 보조, 교통 표지 인식 등 수 많은 첨단 운전자 보조 장치가 포함되어 있다.
시스템을 구축하는 동안 약 1천 만 개 패턴의 잠재적인 실제 시나리오가 시뮬레이션되었으며, 총 130만 킬로미터의 고속도로에서 실제 시연 테스트가 수행되었다.
혼다는 운전자가 핸드오버 경고에도 응답하지 않을 경우 비상 정지 매커니즘을 포함하는 등 ‘혼다 센싱 엘리트’라고 명명된 보다 향상된 안전 기능을 갖춘 모델을 출시했다.
차량 자율성은 0에서 5까지의 등급이 매겨지며 5는 기본적으로 완전한 자율성을 나타내는데 The Legend는 레벨 3을 통과했다.
많은 자동차 제조업체는 레벨 3 자율 주행 차량의 출시를 시도했으나, 소수의 자동차 업체만이 시장에 차량을 출시할 수 있는 기회가 주어졌다.
Honda has released an initial batch of 100 self-driving cars in Japan, making it the world’s most advanced self-driving car approved for the road.
Named “The Legend”, the new car is capable of adaptive lane driving, as well as passing and switching lanes under any conditions.
During the construction of the system, approximately 10 million patterns of potential real-world scenarios were simulated, and real-world demonstration tests were performed on expressways totaling approximately 1.3 million kilometers.
Honda advertises the car’s comprehensive safety testing, which includes an emergency stop mechanism in the event that a driver is unresponsive to handover warnings.
Vehicle autonomy is graded on a scale of 0 to 5, with 5 representing basically complete autonomy and The Legend passes level 3.
Although some automakers have already attempted a level 3 self-driving vehicle, only a few were given the chance to launch their product to the market.
