CNBC는 처방약을 할인된 가격에 찾아주는 회사 GoodRx의 주가가 아마존이 약국 진출을 발표한 후, 지난 화요일에 22.5% 하락했다고 밝혔다.
아마존은 지난 화요일, before the bell 프로그램에서 미국의 고객들이 가정 배달로 처방약을 주문할 수 있는 아마존 약국을 공개했다. 이떄 아마존 프라임 회원들은 무료배송 서비스를 받을 것이다.
더불어 이번 발표는 기존의 전통적인 약국 대기업의 투자자들을 놀라게 했다. CVS와 월그린스 주가는 각각 8%와 9% 하락 했으며, 굿 에이드 주가 또한 16% 하락했다.
하지만 아마존 주식은 거의 변동이 없었다.
(아마존 약국이 개시되면) 의사들은 아마존 약국에 처방전 요청을 직접 보낼 수 있을 것이다. 환자들은 또한 Rite Aid나 CVS와 같은 기존 소매업자에게 처방전을 이전해 줄 것을 요청할 수 있다.
한편 GoodRx는 사용자들에게 처방약 비용을 줄이기 위한 할인카드와 쿠폰 리스트를 무료로 제공한다. 함께 일하는 약국 복리후생 매니저로부터 수수료를 징수하는 방식인 것이다.
Shares of GoodRx, a company that finds users prescription drugs at a discount, closed down 22.5% Tuesday after Amazon announced its biggest move yet into the pharmacy space.
The e-commerce giant revealed Amazon Pharmacy before the bell on Tuesday, which will allow customers in the United States to order prescription medications for home delivery. Amazon Prime members will get free delivery.
The announcement also spooked investors in traditional pharmacy giants. Shares of CVS and Walgreens closed down 8% and 9%, respectively, while Rite Aid’s stock dropped 16%.
Amazon shares were little changed.
Doctors will be able to send prescription requests directly to Amazon Pharmacy. Patients can also request to transfer their prescriptions from an existing retailer, like Rite Aid or CVS.
GoodRx, meanwhile, offers users a free list of discount cards and coupons to cut down costs of their prescription medication. The company collects fees from the pharmacy benefits managers it works with.
